Gangsters and Goblins
New Peace can be considered one of the up and coming industrial nations in the world. Despite its high standard of living and substantial natural resource base, it has made little dent in world politics this century. Most people think they haven’t made a real impact on the rest of the world is because they lack ambition. They seemed content to live comfortably in their isolated sphere of influence. But that is all changing because of two things: The current king and the war.
Fifty years ago Michael Gubitosi took over the thrown of New Peace after King, Allen Konigsberg, passed away at the age of 89. Gubitosi, the nephew of the former king, was young and ambitious. He saw the opportunity to turn New Peace into a major world power. In the early years of his reign he pushed New Peace’s parliament to expand New Peace’s territory by acquiring overseas territories. It was Gubitosi’s initiative that made the country strengthen its trade and political ties with the rest of the world, especially Cathagus. Then when war swept over Cathagus 7 years ago, it was Gubitosi who pushed parliament to fully back The Nations of the Dragon and commit the country to send full military support.
With a substantial portion of Northern and Middle Cathagus in ruin, New Peace, being one of a handful of developed nations not located in Cathagus, is now in a prime position to make a name for itself in world politics.
